Since the car is off the road, the first problem you have is getting the car to a garage for them to have a look at it. Maybe I can provide the service you need. I am an auto technician with over 35 years experience in the motor trade, working on cars and trucks for manufacturers like BMC/Leyland including Austin, Morris, MG, Riley, Wolseley, and Jaguar, Rover, Triumph; Ford; Fiat; Bentley; Renault; TVR; BMW and Daimler-Benz; and up to and including doing diagnostic work on the latest complex electronic vehicles as an RTE for Renault. I ran a workshop successfully in Accra, Ghana in the eighties, on a two year contract. I too run classic vehicles and have a Matra Murena (see below) which I have had from new in 1983 and I'm the Murena and general technical advisor for the Matra Enthusiasts Club UK. Until I became self employed, I was also an M.o.T. tester, and used to prepare H.G.V.'s for their annual test, so I know what is required and can advise on these issues, or make sure your car meets the necessary standards.
